For the month of October, my Birchbox arrived the day before our trip to Colombia and it could not have been any more perfect for me to be able to take some items in my travel bag. I also used some of the items from September’s Birchbox that I have come to love very much!
The Verdict on the You’re Beautiful Box (September’s Birchbox):
- 100% Pure | Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream
I am still using the sample and although I can’t say whether or not it works against fine lines and dark circles, because thankfully I do not have either of those yet, I find it is very moisturizing! It also has helped with puffy eyes because not long after I use it in the morning my eyes are de-puffed. I will repurchase the eye cream once the sample is done!
- Davines | Ol All In One Milk
I love everything about this product! My hair smells great for days and it adds shine and reduces frizz without leaving residue in my hair. It is also a wonderful heat protectant because my hair stays soft and shiny after heat styling.Bonus: Davines | Ol Sulfate-free Shampoo and Conditioner
I repurchased both of these! Together they have the same effects as the All-In-One Milk and I especially love the natural ingredients and that they are a cruelty-free brand!
- Harvey Prince | Sincerely
I used the sample until it was all gone and my husband really enjoyed the scent so that’s a plus in my book!
- POP Beauty | POP Portfolio Eyeshadow –Sugar PlumThis eye palette could not have been any more perfect for me. I don’t wear makeup much, but the few times that I did this past month I reached for this sample. I also took it with me to Colombia 🙂
- treStique | Correct & Cover Concealer Crayon – Bisque
I tried to use this concealer for contouring because the color was darker than my skin tone, but it did not work well. I will not repurchase this one.
Let’s now take a look at the awesome products from October’s Birchbox!
Theme: Positive Force
For the month of October, Birchbox partnered with The Estee Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to fund one year of breast cancer lab research hours. Can the Birchbox team get any more amazing?!
- Acure Organics | Cell Stimulating Facial Mask
According to Acure Organics, “this green clay mask helps shed weekly dirt and grime, activating stem cells and revitalizing skin cells”. I have used the facial mask twice thus far and although I have not seen a difference in my skin after using it yet I really like it a lot! I have dry and sensitive skin and have only been able to use honey as a face mask because many of the ones that I have tried have irritated or dried out my skin.
The Acure mask not only has natural and organic ingredients, it also is very hydrating to the skin. It goes on and stays on like a gel instead of drying up like most clay masks and it foams up like a face wash making it very easy to wash off.
- Avene | Thermal Spring Water
Avene is a skin care company known best for specializing in sensitive skin. I have used many of their products, but the one product I have continued to use for years is the Thermal Spring Water spray. I was beyond excited when I received a sample of the spray because I was able to end up traveling with it. The spray claims to be a wonderful product for many skin ailments and for me it has been perfect for soothing my sensitive skin and providing a refreshing and hydrating facial pick-me-up.
- Benefit Cosmetics | They’re Real! Mascara
This mascara claims to provide lashes so long and thick that “you may be accused of fakery”. I don’t think they made my eyelashes look fake, but they make my eyelashes look fuller and it lasts all day! I used the mascara every day while I was in Colombia.
- EXO Supply Co. | PureRemover Wipes – Lavendar
These all-natural, acetone-free wipes are meant for removing nail polish on-the-go. They smelled great and did leave a healthy sheen on my nails without drying them out, however the wipes are very messy and oily so I do not think it would be wise to use them “on-the-go”. The wipes may travel well, but it would probably be best if they are used with your hands over a paper towel (the oils cause the nail color to drip) and with access to wash your hands afterwards (due to the oily, colorful residue left on your nails afterwards).
- Oribe | Dry-Texturizing Spray
This product is part dry shampoo and part texturizer to provide the hair with body and bounce. I used it as a texturizer to provide volume to a style and it worked much like a hairspray in keeping the volumized style in place.
I will have to give it a try as a dry shampoo for the others I have tried have not been successful.
The products from this Birchbox seem promising and I may be willing to repurchase some of them.
