Move It Monday | Kettlebells

Kettlebells have been around for a long time, but they have recently caught on fire with fitness enthusiasts. My husband and I have been using kettlebells for several years now and many times we prefer them over our dumbbells.

What we like most about kettlebells is, if used properly, they can work the entire body combining strength, cardio, and flexibility training.

“Kettlebell exercises are in their nature holistic; therefore they work several muscles simultaneously…”

So let’s mix in some kettlebells with our movement for this week!

Day 1

I started taking a lyrical/jazz dance class with my close and dear friend Annie and my legs were still feeling sore. I wanted to do some stretches that would help with increasing mobility in my hips to relieve muscle tension and improve my dance moves.

The stretches were so comforting I repeated the video a second time.

Day 2

Did some leg work and this workout had me sweating!

I decided to follow with a different cool down and stretch than what I usually do because I want to improve my flexibility.

I held each stretch for 20-30 seconds and felt amazing afterwards 🙂

Day 3

Fitness Blender always delivers with their workouts and for some upper body work I did the following video:

The workout is 30 minutes and no warm-up or cool-down is included so be sure to have a little extra time when doing the video.

Day 4

For a quick and effective ab workout I found this great one from BodyFit by Amy:

It was short, but my abs were burning!

Day 5

I was feeling a bit of indigestion and bloating and usually walking helps, but unfortunately it was pouring outside. I decided to look for some exercises that would help and I found this great exercise:

I honestly felt very relieved after the stretches and plan to go back to this whenever needed in the future.

I followed with some foam rolling:

Due to the dance class and after working out throughout the week, my muscles still felt a bit tight and I was yearning for a massage. I turned to foam rolling and it really helped to release tension.
