YOUnfolded Under Temporary Maintenance

Washington DC construction site tall building old building black and white YOUnfolded blog

YOUnfolded has moved to a self-hosted site! The domain www.younfolded.com remains the same so you should be automatically redirected to the new site.

The look/theme of the blog has remained the same for now to avoid any additional confusion I may have already caused to some of you ๐Ÿ™

I am currently working on adding all the elements that make it easy for WordPress users to follow YOUnfolded as well as comment and like posts as usual.

Most of you are already subscribed via email so you will continue to receive updates of new posts through there.

If you would like YOUnfolded to show up on your WordPress Reader, here is how it can be done:

When you are logged in to WordPress, go to your Reader and click Manage next to Followed Sites.

Next enter the URL of the site you would like to follow via WordPress Reader. For YOUnfolded, you would enter www.younfolded.com.

The usual Move It Monday and Pay It Forward Friday posts will be on hold for a short period of time. In the meantime, check out what is happening behind the scenes:

My Latest YouTube Video

Creative Photography with my Hubby

My hubby and I had different plans for Earth Hour, however we were invited to a surprise party and I did not have the guts to tell them to turn off the lights for an hour when they were watching the Heat game. We were also the photographers of a fun photobooth they wanted set up.

However, we did make sure to leave all the lights off, unplug our computers and any other electronic devices we were able, as well as have the air conditioner stay off for some time; we couldn’t have it off the entire time because our girls (doggies) were home.

How did you spend Earth Hour and what has been going on in your world?

Much Love,

Nena

    • Hi, Alok! Thank you for checking out the new site. I just updated it this past weekend so the new changes should be showing up if I did it all correctly LOL
And it’s ok if you didn’t get to celebrate Earth Hour;) The most important thing is that we acknowledge how essential it is to take care of our planet:) Hope you have a wonderful day!

  1. Congratulations on the move Nena, it looks great!
I recently transitioned my website to a self hosted webstie too. I noticed how you’re instructing users on how to follow your self-hosted website – maybe this is old new, but I find that the Jetpack plugin works well to seamlessly transition all your followers.
Love your work, keep it awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚ Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

PS. I love your slogan, it kinda reminds me of Nubuyuki Tsujii – https://youtu.be/wbAoeZZvntk A true inspiration for me!

    • Thank you very much and the performance in the video you shared is incredibly moving and inspiring! I am honored that my slogan reminded me of such an amazing individual:)
I remember when you mentioned you were thinking of making the move so happy for your move as well! Jetpack did transition all the followers, but I was not sure if the posts showed up in the Reader so figured I would provide a tutorial just in case;) Thank you again for stopping by! It has been a lot of hard work, but hoping to make it come together nicely:)

  2. Congratulations on your lovely new site, this is a wonderful blog post and your hair tutorial is great! You and your hubby are very talented โ˜บ

  3. I like the look of your site, Nena. The page layout is clear and the videos are very well made. I wondered if you have some past experience in video production or had some help from somebody who has. The music, the narration, the photography — it’s all very professional. Given all this, I’m sure your self-hosted site will be very popular.

    • Thank you very much! Your comments are so motivating:) My husband is helping me a lot behind the scenes, but neither one of us has a video production background. We are simply using the skills we are familiar to put together something unique:) I am very happy to hear that it looks professional. My hubby will be very ecstatic about your comment as well!

yes marvin gaye that story was so sad and tragic on that particular day indeed.
the best to you and much continued success and i truly am moved that you reached out to me
and also said what you said and likewise i respect your talents big time as well.

    peace

  5. Your makeup is amazing from the photoshoot! =O I love the way it makes your eyes pop!!! ^_^ You are beautiful no matter what but I love the creativity behind makeup and how you can artistically express something through it. [= <3 I hope your day is wonderful!

    • Thank you, Allie:) I am planning on doing a tutorial for it soon. I am a beginner with makeup and don’t usually wear it, but I have come to love being creative with it like for the photo shoot. Was definitely fun!

  6. Congratulations on self hosting! ๐Ÿ™‚ Loved the hair tutorial! It makes me want to grow out my hair but every time I try I cave and chop it off again lol. Hope all is well! Keep shining your bright light ๐Ÿ™‚ xo

  8. How great Nena! It seems you will be a leader who’ll lead many people to self hosting. I am anxious to know how it works too. Don’t leave me behind when you are taking your friends along. Thanks for the nice things you say about the Bloggers’ solidarity Support Forum/challenge. I want to see it grow from strength to strength and help many bloggers. I hope you continue to be part. Best wishes to you.

    • I will continue to participate and keep in touch with everyone as much as possible. Thank you for the ongoing support and I won’t leave you behind! Any way that I can help I will be more than happy to do so๐Ÿ˜„

  9. Congratulations Nena, I like that you are self hosting it is really great and now we can ask each other for advice. It can be a bit lonely when you are self hosting on wordpress

  10. I feel personally proud as if I am the one * I hope to get a self-hosted authors’ blog soon. Way to go girl and well done. Will be looking up to you for tips and to learn how it goes. I might knock on your door with a few questions if that’s okay with you ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Oh, Jacqueline, thank you:) I feel the same when I see the accomplishments of fellow blog friends (bluddies) like yourself;) Knock and the door shall be opened to you at any time! I would be more than happy to help in any way I am able:)

  11. Great video Nena – I enjoyed watching. Also, I love the warrior look. Congrats on the move – I’m still getting your e-mails for new posts so I’m still following you. Self-hosting is definitely a good way to go. I recently updated my site by the way. Let me know what you think. It’s still a work in progress but at least it’s a start. Love the direction you’re going in love. Xoxo – gail

    • Thank you so much, Gail! I have loved what you have been doing with your site so I can’t wait to stop by and check out the changes:)

  12. Nena, added to my blogs <3 seriously I wish I could braid my own hair. I can braid others by me nope, I'm 46 and this old lady can't learn

  13. Omgsh no way girl!! I just went self-hosted myself too!! Who did you use? We totally think alike!! How cool!! I am still working out all the kinds and it is taking forever to figure it all out haha!! We can learn and help each other!! Yay!!!

    • Lol! That is so awesome!! We went with BlueHost at this time because we used services that helped make the transition for us (my hubby and I). We looked into doing it ourselves, but because it is all new to us we didn’t want to take the risk of messing things up :p How about you?!
