Zoey was a very special Christmas gift for me from a family friend. I was not expecting an adorable and sweet puppy for a gift because we already had a cat and a dog that I adored. But I was ecstatic because she was not only the most beautiful puppy I had ever seen, she was also affectionate without licking so much like most puppies do.
Zoey always stood out above the rest. She is incredibly smart; she learned how to sit, lie down, and give you dap (her paw) all in one week! She never needed a leash to know to stay close and in sight and she has a strong soul.
When she was only 6 months old she was attacked by our neighbors’ 2 big dogs and they nearly ripped her right leg out! Unfortunately, she had an amputation, but very fortunately she continued to be herself and stood up and walked the day after her surgery! She is now an oldie goldie, but she would sprint, jump, and take on stairs like a champ in her younger years. She is simply amazing!

Leia was our first and only puppy that was bought from a breeder. At the time we had 3 dogs, one of them was a toy yorkie from a neighbor that could no longer care for him and my mom had the idea to breed more toy yorkies so she got Leia as his partner. I fell in love with Leia’s cute and goofy look when the breeder walked in with her. The breeder explained that she was the last one left of her litter and that no one wanted her because she did not look like the “typical” yorkie puppy.
Leia was bigger than all the other puppies and her hair was frizzy and spiked up like that of a kitten. But her eyes were so full of love and life that I was head over heels from the moment I saw her. I believe the feeling is mutual because although she is affectionate with everyone she has a strong affinity towards me.
At one point she went missing for 3 months and after so many tears and sleepless nights, we were reunited. She now never leaves my side and protects her family fearlessly.
My precious golden girls are a huge part of my family so they take up a big chunk of my heart:-) They have taught me so much about appreciating life and being positive and expressing love no matter what you face. They are both truly godsend!
