Makeup expert or not, we all can appreciate easy application that looks fantastic and is subtle.
A great trick is to usually play up one facial feature to keep it simple yet still have the WOW factor.
I like to make my eyes the focal point when it comes to makeup and most of the time all that is needed is a perfect eyeliner and mascara duo.
The eyeliner glides on easily and has a self-sharpener on the inside so you always have a “perfect point”. This is an ideal feature for makeup newbie’s like myself because it provides better control. Plus, it has a smudger tip to soften the look or you can use it as an eraser for errors like I have 😉
The mascara is even more amazing! You can get full, dramatic lashes with very little effort and it does not flake and stays put all day! I wore it during a very sweaty workout and it stayed in place. The best part is that it comes off easily with eye make up remover.
So here is how I made use of the COVERGIRL products to highlight the eyes and still maintain a natural and effortless look:
Face: I skipped on using foundation to have most of my skin and freckles show through and instead I used my W3LL People concealer (from my May Birchbox) over the few areas I had spots and redness.
Cheeks: REVIVE Cooling Cheek Tint in Pink Punch by ARROW for a soft color and glow.
Lips: Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Sweet Violet for a subtle color
Eyebrows: Etude House Drawing Eye Brow #3 in Brown (*affiliate link)
Eyes: I used my Cargo Land Down Under Eye Shadow Palette from my April Birchbox.
I used the gold color as an all over color on my eyelids.
Then I used the brown for the crease.
Tip: Keep your eyes open when applying the crease color and I applied it starting from the middle of the eye towards the tip. This method gives you more control of where the color is applied providing the eyes with more dimension and helps them stand out more.
I am not the best at applying eyeliner so my fail-proof way to use it and give my eyes a pop is through tight lining.
Tight lining is where you apply the eyeliner inside the lash line instead of the traditional way of placing it on top.
It is not as obvious that you are wearing eyeliner, but by darkening the lash line your eyes shine through.
Now it’s time to check out the magical mascara…
The after photo is after just one coat of the Super Sizer Fibers Mascara! Talk about easy breezy!
I was satisfied with one coat, but I added a second one to play up the eyes a little more.
This is the final look…
The featured pic of the post is the same makeup method and how it looks in daylight.
What do you think of the results? Sound too easy?
