About Me

Unfold the Beauty only YOU Possess

The world around us has attempted to mold and condition us to be a certain way and achieve specific goals perceived as what is best. We work hard to get good grades, get into the top colleges and universities, and work our butts off to establish a successful career.

On top of that, we struggle to look as great as the standards set before us to obtain an ideal relationship, get married, have kids, and be amazing spouses, moms, and daughters.

But in the pursuit of perfection and approval, have we lost ourselves?

Hi, love! I am Yentl, also known as Nena (Spanish term of endearment for a female you feel close to). I am the honest, transparent girlfriend you can feel comfortable in your own skin with. My mission is to spread self-love (#YULoveYourSelfie) for women to celebrate all their unique qualities that make up their inner beauty and experience the unlived life within.

For so long, I thought I was doing right by going through all the recommended steps. I went to college straight after high school; got a double bachelor’s degree in psychology and in nutrition and dietetics; went through internships and got a full-time job as a dietitian where I then paid my way through my master’s degree in mental health counseling, went through more internships and graduated with honors. I currently work from home as a health coach and though at first sight, it could seem like I am living the dream, I feel like I lost my true calling and purpose.

There are many passions that I put aside to pursue what I was taught to believe would bring success and establishment that I feel like I lost meaning and bliss.

Many women I have worked with and talked to have also expressed how they define themselves through their roles and accomplishments as opposed to their true essence and heart. They also express a tug to move from ambition to meaning.

We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us”.

-Joseph Campbell

I finally decided to listen to my heart and let it unfold the possibilities when I discover my true self and yield to my passions. Allowing the fear of failure to strip away as I embrace the unique beauty that only I possess.

The approach I took was to start by defining beauty, not according to the world, but down to the elements that make up each unique being.

You can unfold the beauty only you possess with this simple acronym:

B- Body

Each body has its own individual needs. Once you establish a nutrition and exercise routine tailored for you, your physical being will radiate and glow.

E- Explore

Embarking on the adventure of self-discovery requires you to try new things and explore your surroundings.

A- Adorn

Often times the way you look on the outside can be a reflection of how you feel on the inside.

Primping up, decluttering, and organizing can help renew your mind and spirit.

U- Unity

Life takes on a deeper meaning when you value and give to those around you as well as when you learn to receive and learn from others.

T- Talent

Unfolding and cultivating your inner gifts and creativity unveils the unique talent only you can give the world.

Y- You

Taking part in all of the above leads you to be able to define and know who you truly are and no longer depend on status and roles as a measure of success.

Free yourself from the shackles of societies standards of ambition and start unfolding your BEAUTY and live life with meaning.

Live less out of habit and more out of intent

About the Blog

Instead of focusing on a particular niche, I like to explore the beauty of our intricate nature and encourage everyone to delve in the various talents within them instead of focusing on one narrow path. Joy and inspiration can be awakened when we try new things and have no limits. Working on our mind, body, and soul via health and wellness, travel, relationships, reading and watching, and simple primping is what I promote via the blog. Hence the name, YOUnfolded (meaning you unfolded).

Your BEAUTY is…

a gift to the world and every being in it. Don’t cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you’ve got.
